Discovered in 2013, the Art Boyz are a group of young men who have been painting together as a way of life, diverting them from the hardship of living in the slums of Mukuru, Nairobi. Works were brought to the U.S. and two pieces sold immediately for $3100 each; to an Art Critic from Texas and to an admirer.
From this attention, a successful Art Premiere was held in the USA resort town of Telluride, Colorado. Exhibits are now scheduled in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Taipei, Shanghai, and Tokyo, ending the 2015 tour with a showing in Dubai in November 2015.
A documentary film is being produced about the artists and their rise from the slums to the suburb of Karen in Nairobi where they call their new home "Ali's Treehouse" in tribute to the memory of a donor Ali Gawdat from the United Arab Emirates.
The talents of the Art Boyz had been hidden from the world yet are now readily admired around the globe.Their spirit and experiences of hardship and faith are expressed on canvas.
